Frequently Asked Questions
- Question: Why should I join EAOP if I am not sure I want to go to a UC?
- Answer: EAOP can help you become a competitive applicant for other any college you are interested in applying for. We encourage our participants to strive to be UC eligible because if you meet these requirements then you are also eligible to apply for most colleges and universities across the country. The great thing is that being in EAOP is here to serve in your benefit. No matter what schools you plan on applying to, being in EAOP will help you on your journey to the college of your choice.
- Question: What makes me eligible for EAOP?
- Answer: If you attend an EAOP partnership school and have an interest in going to college, you are eligible for EAOP! We welcome all students from EAOP partner schools to apply to our program. Space is limited to 50 students per grade level at each school site, so be sure to apply early! Please note, that while there is not a GPA requirement to participate in the program, we do ask that students work towards maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA while in the program. We will continue working with students who fall just below this as long as they meet the program participation requirements. Check here to see if your school is one of our partnership schools.
- Question: How will I receive information from or about EAOP?
- Answer: Your Regional or UCI Student Representative will announce future workshops and events by sending you flyers and/or letters either through the mail or email. There is a designated UCI student representative – your EAOP student coordinator – that will contact you by email, or sometimes phone, to give you more information and individualized attention.
- Question: I missed my Regional Coordinator’s presentation. What did s/he talk about?
- Answer: Each presentation has a different topic. All of the presentations are important and informative, so you really don’t want to miss out. If you do, you can always ask your school’s EAOP student coordinator for more information or when the next workshop will be.
- Question: My EAOP Student Coordinator called me but I didn’t answer. What did they want?
- Answer: Your student coordinator is here to provide support, so there really is no reason not to meet with them. They are also your direct link to the university – TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT! Your EAOP representative is a current UCI student, so if you have any questions about college, they can give you first-hand info. Their whole job is to talk to students and make sure they are informed and on the right track.
